Peter Stavitsky graduated from the Institute in 1973 and retired from military service in 1975 as senior (first) lieutenant. 

Subsequently, he worked as translator and interpreter for different companies in Kiev, Ukraine. He also taught English at several Kiev Universities. In 1989 he relocated to the US with family.

In the US his first job was Assistant Professor of Russian with the Defense Language Institute in Monterrey, CA. Then he was self-employed and worked as Interpreter, Translator and Editor in Russian as contractor. During those years he was involved in several joint US-Russian space exploration projects and served as contract Interpreter for NASA (for five years). In 1999-2001 he was Program Development Specialist (Russian Project) with the University of Arizona, South (Sierra Vista, AZ).
