During his studies at the Institute (1985-1990) Sergei Ivaschuk spent one year in practical training at Shandong University in the People's Republic of China. After his graduation from the Institute he was stationed for a short period of time in Khabarovsk Region (Russian Far East).
After his marriage to a German national he retired from the (then Soviet) Army by the end of 1991 and relocated to the Federal Republic of Germany. In Germany he completed training in the area of Foreign Trade and Wholesale Management (that took several years), and later worked with different German companies.
Currently he works for an industrial manufacturer in Germany as International Area Sales manager with responsibilities in the Pacific (Far East) region.
